Amanda Haynes, FNP-C

Practitioner Haynes is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She graduated from Duke University School of Nursing with her master’s in nursing.  She also completed her undergraduate degree of nursing at Duke University in 2009.

Practitioner Haynes has a diverse pediatric background, as the medical field was her second career.  Born and raised in the foothills of North Carolina, she first left home and went to college at East Carolina University (ECU) where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in special education and a minor in child development and family relations. Upon graduation, Practitioner Haynes decided to continue her education and went to graduate school at ECU where she received a master’s degree in recreational therapy with a concentration as a child life specialist.  Over the last several years, she has worked at UNC Children’s Hospital and Duke University Medical Center.

Practitioner Haynes has a strong interest in pediatric and adult obesity, improving motivation to live a healthy life, child development, and establishing life-long relationships with children, adults, and families. She believes establishing a relationship with patients and family and providing education is essential in establishing an effective health care plan. Practitioner Haynes is a professional member of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

In her spare time, Practitioner Haynes maintains a healthy lifestyle through exercise, spending time with family and friends, and taking care of her “children” (dogs), Kylee and Zak.
